Otaki Japanese Steakhouse in Jacksonville

Of course it's a bit on the pricey side. But the show is great! The food is cooked to perfection and the portions are very large. It also gives you the option of eating on the grill side, a restaurant style side where their waitress comes to you or a bar.

Great staff and food

Went out with one of my best friends to celebrate her graduation. We went a little later on Friday night and were promptly seated at a hibachi table alone. They asked if we minded waiting until more people arrived to get started. We agreed it was no problem and enjoyed our soup while we talked. When the others arrived it was a perfect match, we had great conversation and they knew our chef! We all talked like old friends while the food was prepared. The rice and veggies are so delicious that I barely left room for my filet. This was fine since portions are generous enough that I had plenty to bring home and eat for lunch the next day. I think the pricing is fair and atmosphere is classic. I would recommend this as the best hibachi experience in town. It was a great celebratory dinner and we plan to go back next weekend!

The ginger was watery, the manager had an attitude, and my to go order was not correct but they blamed me. I would not go here again or recommend! Glad I do not live in the area and my restaurant back home doesn’t treat people like they can’t afford anything. The manager wanted to get rude with me before knowing my issue with my food! I really felt disrespected! I paid for my food even though I didn’t eat it.

Great place for hibachi. You can get steak, chicken, shrimp, vegetables, filet mignon. Plenty of options. Fried rice and noodles are available too. The sushi menu is pretty good. Of course the fanfare of the chef cooking it all up in front of you and tossing eggs and other food around is the best part. Great place to go with the family!

We had dinner last night and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. Our chef was attentive and funny and did a wonderful job of preparing our food. Our food was excellent and our service was fantastic. Will certainly return again. This was our first visit but will not be our last.

2 people of our group got food poisoning, I'm assuming from the sushi because we all ate just about the same thing. I thought the food was great though

I like the food, be specific on what you order, otherwise you may get something different, but when it happens to me, the manager was prompt to replace the order, but the plate looks so good that I decided to keep it, and it was good!

We sat at a fry table that was unclean; remnants of food still on the grill. Other tables were clean.. we complained to the manager who was defensive instead of apologetic. We had a big party and did not want to move so we asked to have it cleaned. Someone came out with attitude and made a lame attempt at cleaning. There was still food on the grill when he finished. We used to love to go to this place. I am not sure we will go back.

It was my first time ever eating Japanese food and it was wonderful! Clean and the cook was doing his thing right in front of me great experience.

Decided wanted some sushi while on vacation. This place was hands down a great experience. Some of the best sushi I’ve had. Friendly atmosphere and very friendly service. Kyle was awesome and makes great drinks. Would highly recommend if you have time to make the trip.

This is our favorite of the Japanese steakhouses in the area. We really like the flavor of the soup and the ginger dressing on the salad. Grill items ate very good and tasty. Especially like the Sushi bar.

Wow we had such a fabulous dinner for two! It had shrimp, scallops, lobster, and filet what an amazing dinner we had. The service was exceptional too. Had a great time!

Very affordable hibachi entrees with excellent quality and quantity of food. Fried rice is included at no additional cost. Hibachi entrees also include fried noodles. Highly recommended.

Always one of our favorites. Big servings, lots of choices, big sushi selection, and a full bar. The chefs are always entertaining. Each has his/her own "spin" on the presentation of the cooking and serving of the food. We come about every other month as a treat. We've never had a bad experience.

Everything you would expect from a Japanese steakhouse. The ONLY problem we had here was the servers forgot about our appetizers. In this case, it was acceptable because the place was absolutely packed. They ended up bringing them eventually and comp'd them (without us asking) from the bill since when we got them, we were already half way through the main meal.

Second time here in a couple years. It was good last time. This time it was on a Monday and it was for my girlfriend's birthday. She enjoyed it. We were the only two at the hibachi table and got there around 7:45. Our chef was wonderful. He was from Indonesia. The prices are cheaper relative to other Japanese steakhouses and our deep fried sushi roll was better than expected. The steak and shrimp was superb. The wait staff was on top of everything. We will be back. The good thing about these places is you always have food left for tomorrow!

Great food great service, the drink blue dragon was legit women will love it taste like kool aid but gets the job done.

Not sure how this place managed to get 4.4 rating on google. We had takeout from there last night. It was hands down some of the worst takeout we've had. Food was super dry and lacking in flavor. Just really disappointing.

OMG! Best place in town for hibachi! The shrimp sauce is the best. Thank you for letting me have meetings there all the time and never kicking me out even though you were closing.

I go here often, food is always amazing, chefs are always amazing. Service could be improved depending on who you get. I had dinner at Wasabi the other night and it was so bad. It made me remember just how much better Otaki is compared to any competition around. Do yourself a favor and go here for hibachi and sushi. Always delicious.

Awesome awesome experience! We filled the whole table with our family.. and had a wonderful time. Our server, waitress.. hostess.. all great attitude.. the chef was super fun. He was engaging with the elders and the young ones alike. The food was prepped to perfection. Filet mignon , lobster , chicken , salmon.. we tried them all.. the food is as awesome as the experience. Can’t wait to go back! The place is packed.. and I suggest giving ample time to be seated.. but you won’t regret it.. Stop in and bring the family! A++

Great service for the three or four times we have been there. The hibachi is fun and the main reason we go. The food quality seemed like it dropped though from last time. Perhaps a different food service used.

The best sushi in town! Favorites: Deutsche Bank Roll (that little touch of lemon makes it so special), Promo Roll (crunchy). They use super fresh ingredients and prepare everything so carefully!

What a wonderful hidden gem! Absolutely delicious food, made perfectly! They have something for everyone, even Ramen! Our server, Sara was so attentive, she answered all our questions perfectly, and she was so friendly! I can't say enough good things about this restaurant! Will definitely be back!

I wish I could eat here everyday! Otaki has been my wife and I's favorite restaurant for several years now. The food is always amazing and the portions are huge. The staff are all super friendly and helpful. Best Japanese steakhouse and sushi around!

My husband and I ordered the chicken and shrimp and our son order the filet mignon because the staff said they was out of the Teriyaki steak .The chicken and shrimp was awful. We very very disappointed they meal was $71.00, for that price we should have enjoyed our food. The chicken tasted hard and rubbery and the shrimp was overcooked. I would not recommend this place to anyone. If I hadn't driven so far I would have asked for my money back.

We came to check it out based on the reviews after googling, 'Best hibachi Jax'. Angelo was our server and greeted us at the entrance. Food was excellent, and service was amazing. The Dynamite roll was the highest quality version of it's kind I've ever had.

Fairly solid hibachi spot. Staff was super friendly and attentive. The price is very fair. Their sushi was surprisingly better than expected, and may really be their feature item. I wish the hibachi tables were a bit cleaner, chairs and tabletops were a bit sticky. Our cook was hilarious and entertaining, yet not overly original. Will definitely be back for the sushi and the bar.

The food and our hibachi guy where grate, the birthday song is super catchy and you want dance to it, but the service was very slow and the restaurant was not crowded or anything, it took for ever to get the checks and the worst part is that they included the tip, I really hate that, is not that we are in a low class place/area and they put 18% tip on our checks, normally we always give a 20% tip or more, so there lost, but I guess they try to make people re-tip so just be aware.

HORRIBLE!!!!! First of all, we had to wait around an hour for the pretty average food to come which mainly consisted of low quality ingredients. But what made my experience REALLY bad, was the fact that there was random oil under the sitting table that just happened to drop on my white $300 shoes. Random oil drops under the table???!! Not pleasant for me at all, especially considering the fact that there is an unremovable stain on my white shoes. I would definitely cross this “restaurant” off my hibachi dinner list if I was a normal customer seeking a decent dining experience. Very dissatisfied 🤮

The sushi was good but not that fresh, service was slow and not attentive. I dined in with a private party and was not impressed with the way this place at all. The food was decent, nothing too special. My favorite is only the shrimp lomein. The dynamite roll was too dry and bland. The other two rolls were good, but too much rice on the inside. The waitress came by to take drinks order then disappeared to la la land. I had to ask another person for our drinks, so that was disappointing. The ambiance was nice, asian themed decor with plenty seatings for big parties. This place needs to improve on better quality of food as well as service.

Tried to come here on a Friday around 7pm. The place didn't have an available table, they would have if they separated out their two-tops. After waiting about ten minutes for a table we got sat in a corner and proceed to sit for another 7 minutes without being greeted. We left, went to Sushi Q instead. Turned into a happy accident bc sushi q was amazing and the atmosphere was even cooler than this place.

Best place for me and my need for sushi!!! Sushi chefs can make more than on the menu, just ask!
